Dr Charles M Zelen is president and medical director of the Processional Education and Research Institute in Roanoke, Virginia since 2005. He is a surgical fellowship director of an American ColIege of Foot and Ankle Surgeons recognized fellowship in Salem, Virginia and currently serves as Foot and Ankle Section Section Chief in the Department of Orthopedics at HCA Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, VA . He currently serves as a North American Editor for the International Wound Journal. He has also served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia.
His clinical research organization specializes in lower extremity clinical trials, with our focus on diabetic foot ulcer trials and trials for ulcers with peripheral vascular disease. He has over 50 clinical trial publications and has lectured nationally and internationally on limb salvage as well on medical and surgical care for patients with peripheral arterial disease and ulcerations.
In clinical practice he specializes in limb salvage and limb reconstruction. During his tenor in Virgina he has worked with charities such as seeds of hope and OMNI international to bring children in from Zambia, Africa for limb saving surgeries.
