Dr. Alison A. Smith, MD, PhD, FACS, is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and a trauma and critical care surgeon practicing across multiple affiliated hospitals, including University Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Hospital. She completed her MD and PhD through Tulane University’s Physician-Scientist Program, followed by general surgery residency at Tulane and a Surgical Critical Care fellowship at the University of Texas Health San Antonio. Dr. Smith is board-certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Her clinical and research interests focus on trauma care, hemorrhage control, critical care, and innovative approaches to complex wound management.
