Dr. Kris Kieswetter currently serves as Global Director, Applied Research Sciences, Design Verification and Stability at Solventum (formerly 3M/KCI). The organizations she leads provide technical and scientific support to product development teams. Their scope ranges from performing technology scouting and assessments to derisking novel concepts with pre-clinical and bench studies to ensuring the company’s products meet their design specifications. She is the principal investigator of a $34.2 million effort to further development of four devices to address wounds from the point of injury to the hospital. Since the devices are a different stages of product development, the funding supports efforts ranging from formulation development to execution of two Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) clinical trials. In her current role, she also serves as the business’s liaison to the Clinical organization and contributes to clinical strategy, study designs and prioritization across the various business portfolios.

Her career includes both device and drug product development and she has led organizations responsible for strategic marketing and clinical studies. Dr. Kieswetter is a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the Society for Biomaterials, the Orthopaedic Research Society, and the Wound Healing Society. Her community and professional service include serving on the board of advisors of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Texas at San Antonio and on the board of directors of Project QUEST, Texas Public Radio, Masters Leadership San Antonio, The Health Cell, the Wound Healing Foundation and the Wound Healing Society. She has received over a dozen patents and published in the fields of biomaterials, orthopaedics and wound healing. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Material Science and Engineering as well as Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science and PhD from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from the University of Texas (San Antonio).
